Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Interior Design | University Technology of Sarawak (UTS)

Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Interior Design at University Technology of Sarawak (UTS) is a 3.5-year, full-time, English-medium degree that develops competence in interior design studio practice, furniture design, building technology, and professional interior practice.

Students progress through interior design studios, furniture design and ergonomics, detailing and finishes, design presentation, BIM-CAD, lighting and colours, building services, measured drawing, and interior designer practice, followed by a six-month professional internship and a comprehensive interior design project with project management and costing. Electives include architectural and interior graphic, green architecture, photography, environmental science, and history of modern and postmodern architecture. Graduates are prepared for interior designer, product designer, stylist, stage designer, and graphic designer roles.

BP40 Scholarship Requirement

Open to students from B40 and M40 families.

Malaysian.

Sarawakian (where one of the parents is Sarawakian Bumiputera).

It is mandatory to obtain a credit in the Bahasa Melayu subject in the SPM examination or an equivalent examination as follows:

  1. Obtained at least a Grade C for the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM).
  2. Obtained at least a Grade C for the General Certificate of Ordinary Level (GCE O-Level).
  3. Obtained at least a Grade B6 for the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC).

FTES Scholarship Requirement

  • Anak Sarawak.
  • First Bachelor Degree.
  • Offered into an FTES-approved Undergraduate Degree programme at one of the Sarawak-Owned Institutions of Higher Learning (SIHL).
  • Full-time student.
  • Not receiving any other scholarship.

UTS Bursary Scheme BP40 for Sarawakian (Non-Bumiputera)

Eligibility

  1. The scheme is open to new Non-Bumiputera students who are enrolled and registered as Year 1, Semester 1 undergraduate students at UTS.
  2. The eligible undergraduate programmes are:
    • i) Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons)
    • ii) Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Marketing
  3. The scheme covers up to 80% of the tuition fees for the duration of the student’s study, subject to the terms and conditions of the scheme.
  4. The student’s parental household income must fall within the B40 or M40 income categories.
  5. Applicants must have obtained a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or equivalent in STPM, Foundation, Matriculation, or other recognised pre-university qualifications. In addition, applicants must obtain a credit in Bahasa Melayu at SPM level, or an equivalent qualification in UEC or O-Level.
  6. Upon approval of the application, students are required to sign the bursary agreement before receiving the bursary.
  7. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00 in every semester to retain the bursary scheme.
  8. Students must not be receiving any other scholarship during the period of the bursary scheme.
  9. A maximum of 100 places are allocated for Non-Bumiputera students.
  10. Students may apply for a Yayasan Sarawak loan or PTPTN loan to cover the remaining tuition fees not covered by the UTS Bursary Scheme BP40, subject to the respective eligibility requirements.
