Chapter I General Provisions


Article 1 These  Measures are formulated in accordance with the "Interim Measures for the Administration of the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship Program" and the "Measures for the Implementation of the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship Program" and in light of the actual conditions of the school, in order to ensure the standardized implementation and scientific management of the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship Program and to promote the development of the school's international education.


Article 2:  The funds required for the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship are allocated by the Beijing Municipal Government. The Finance Department will maintain an independent account, calculate the funds separately, and use the funds for its intended purpose.


Article 3:  The University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) establishes the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship Program Executive Leadership Group, which is responsible for the program's guidance, coordination, supervision, and management. The leadership group will be led by the university leader in charge of international student affairs, and its members will be comprised of representatives from the International Student Center, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Graduate School, the Finance Office, and relevant colleges. The International Student Center will be responsible for the specific work of the program.


Chapter II Funding Targets and Funding Contents


Article 4  The Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship is mainly used to cover the tuition fees of international students who are eligible for the scholarship.


Article 5  The Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship is for foreigners who apply to study at the University of Science and Technology Beijing and international students who are receiving education at the University of Science and Technology Beijing and who do not receive other scholarships.


Article 6.  Amount of Beijing Municipal Scholarship for Foreign Students:


(1) Doctoral Student Scholarship: RMB 40,000 per student per academic year, generally offered to outstanding students pursuing a doctoral degree at the university.


(2) Master's Student Scholarship: RMB 30,000 per student per academic year, generally provided to outstanding students pursuing a master's degree at the school.


(3) Undergraduate Scholarship: RMB 20,000 per student per academic year, generally offered to outstanding students pursuing a bachelor's degree at the university.


(4) Scholarship for Advanced Students or Long-term Language Students: RMB 10,000 per person per academic year, generally offered to outstanding students who are pursuing advanced studies or long-term language students at the school.


(5) Inter-school exchange or special contribution student scholarship is RMB 5,000 per student per academic year. It is generally provided to international students who implement inter-school exchange agreements (long-term students or students in mutual credit recognition programs), or students who have made special contributions to the school's international cooperation and exchange in education.


The school may make appropriate adjustments to the amount of funding based on the applicant's actual situation.


Chapter III Application Qualifications, Time and Channels


Article 7  Applicant Qualifications


(1) Foreigners applying to study at the University of Science and Technology Beijing must be non-Chinese citizens and meet the admission requirements for international students of the University of Science and Technology Beijing.


(2) International students receiving education at the University of Science and Technology Beijing must be both morally and academically excellent.


Article 8  Application Time and Channels


(1) The application period is generally in April each year. The specific application period is subject to the announcement of the year.


(2) Foreigners applying to study at the University of Science and Technology Beijing should submit the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship Application Form to the International Student Center in addition to the application materials, according to the time specified in the admission brochure.

(3) International students receiving education at the University of Science and Technology Beijing should submit the "Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship Application Form" to the International Student Center within the prescribed application period.


Chapter 4 Review Steps and Standards
 
Article 9  Review Steps and Criteria for Freshman Scholarship Applications


(1) The International Student Center reviews application materials, academic records, and health status, and verifies the overall performance of graduates in China.


(2) Organize undergraduate entrance examinations and classify the examination results according to the applied subject majors, and rank them from high to low.


(3) Graduate application materials should be submitted to the Graduate School Admissions Office, which will then forward them to the relevant teaching and training units for review by professors. The list of prospective students will be determined and returned to the International Student Center.


(4) The International Student Center organizes a scholarship review meeting to determine the list of new Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship recipients and the amount of scholarships based on the following selection criteria and the total amount of scholarships:


1. The applicant's academic performance should be among the top of the freshman applicants, with a GPA or average score, and a top undergraduate entrance examination score;


2. Applicants with learning and scientific research abilities will be given priority;


3. Actively participate in various cultural and sports activities or social practice activities. Those with special skills or outstanding achievements will be given priority.


Article 10  Evaluation Procedures and Criteria for Scholarship Applications by Current Students


(1) The scholarship allocation ratio will be preliminarily determined based on the total scholarship amount and the proportion of self-funded students in each discipline and grade.


(2) Summarize and organize the applicant information, classify them by grade and subject, calculate the weighted average score of all courses in the current academic year, and rank them from high to low.


(3) The International Student Center organizes a scholarship review meeting to determine the list of recipients and the amount of the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship based on the following selection criteria:


1. The applicant's academic performance should be among the top weighted average scores of all current applicants in their grade and subject major;


2. Good academic performance, able to abide by all laws, regulations, school rules and regulations, ensure class attendance, and attend class meetings on time;


3. Serving as student leaders, student assistants at the International Student Center, and those who have made contributions to international student management and various activities will be given priority;


4. Priority will be given to those who actively participate in various activities inside and outside the school, win awards, and bring honor to the school.


Article 11:  The list of award-winning candidates will be announced. During the announcement period, any objections to the award-winning candidates may be raised with the International Student Center. After the announcement period, the list of winning international students will be announced by the International Student Center, and the winners will be notified of the results.


Article 12  Those who receive the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship must complete the registration or check-in procedures on time within the time limit specified by the school. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the scholarship.
