International Chinese Teacher Scholarship Introduction
To meet the international community's growing demand for Chinese language education professionals, promote the development of Chinese language education worldwide, and support the growth of international Chinese language education professionals, the China-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education (hereinafter referred to as the Center) has established the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as the Scholarship), focusing on cultivating qualified overseas Chinese language teachers. Confucius Institutes, independently established Confucius Classrooms, some Chinese language examination centers, relevant foreign educational institutions, Chinese language teacher programs/departments at universities, relevant Chinese language teaching organizations abroad, and Chinese embassies and consulates abroad (hereinafter referred to as Recommending Institutions) may recommend outstanding students and in-service Chinese language teachers to study and further their studies in Chinese international education and related majors at Chinese universities (hereinafter referred to as Host Institutions).

International Chinese Teacher Scholarship Funding
Scholarships cover tuition, accommodation, living expenses (except for four-week fellowships), and comprehensive medical insurance. Online programs do not cover accommodation, living expenses, or comprehensive medical insurance.
Application Materials

2. Scanned copies of HSK and HSKK score report (valid for two years).
3. Recommendation letter from the head of the recommending institution.

9. Study Plan
Applicants
1. Non-Chinese nationals;
2. Be friendly to China, have no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the school;
3. Physically and mentally healthy, with excellent character and academic performance;
4. Interested in engaging in Chinese education, teaching and related work;
5. Applicants must be between 16 and 35 years old (calculated as of September 1st of the year of enrollment). The age limit for in-service Chinese teachers is relaxed to 45 years old. Undergraduate scholarship applicants are generally under 25 years old.
Scholarship categories available
1. First-year trainees
Enrollment begins in September each year, and the scholarship period is 11 months. Applicants who have previously received similar scholarships will not be admitted.
For Chinese language training, the Chinese language test score must be 210 points or higher in HSK (Level 3). Applicants who provide HSKK scores will be given priority.
2. First-semester trainees
Enrollment begins in September or March each year, and the funding period is five months. Applicants holding X1 or X2 visas will not be admitted. Majors in Chinese International Education, Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, and Chinese Philosophy require a minimum HSK (Level 3) score of 180 and possess a valid HSKK score.
3. Four-week trainee
Enrollment begins in July or December each year, and the funding period is four weeks. Applicants holding X1 or X2 visas will not be admitted. Programs are open to students with HSK scores, including Chinese Language Studies, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tai Chi Culture, and Chinese Language and Chinese Family Experience. Recommended programs may be organized by a recommending institution. The program must contact the host institution in advance to finalize the study plan in China and submit the application to the center for approval. Each group consists of 10-15 people.
4. One-year online Chinese language training program
Enrollment is in September or March each year. Generally, the HSK (Level 3) score must be 180. Applicants who provide HSKK scores will be given priority.
5. One-semester Chinese language training online program
Enrollment is in September or March each year. Generally, students must have a Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) score (there are no specific requirements for level or score).
6. Special online training projects
Students with HSK scores can register in a group with a recommending institution. For details, please contact the Admissions Office of the International Student Center of the University of Science and Technology Beijing.
Application Process
Starting March 1st of each year, applicants can apply for the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship by logging onto the scholarship registration website
( contact E-Square for the website ). Log onto the scholarship website to find the recommending institutions and receiving universities. Submit your application materials online and monitor the application progress, review comments, and scholarship review results. Scholarship recipients must register and upload their information on the University of Science and Technology Beijing International Student Application System (
contact E-Square for the website ). Upon successful review, the University of Science and Technology Beijing will issue an admission letter and JW202 form to the recipient. Winners must enroll at the designated time specified in the receiving university's admission letter. (University of Science and Technology Beijing should be selected as their first choice of receiving university.)
Deadline (Beijing time)
1. July admission: The application deadline is April 15, and the review deadline for recommending institutions and receiving universities is April 25.
2. September admission: The application deadline is May 15, and the review deadline for recommending institutions and receiving universities is May 25.
3. December admission: The application deadline is September 15, and the review deadline for recommending institutions and receiving universities is September 25.
4. For admission in March of the following year: The application deadline is November 15th, and the review deadline for the recommending institution and the receiving institution is November 25th.
About current Chinese teachers and Chinese Bridge winners
1. In-service Chinese teachers
In-service Chinese teachers applying for various scholarships can provide employment certificates and recommendation letters issued by their current employers and are exempt from submitting the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) certificate.
2. Chinese Bridge Award Winners
Those who have won the 2022 "International Chinese Teacher Scholarship Certificate" in various Chinese Bridge competitions should log in to the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship website and submit their application materials to the target receiving institution with the scholarship certificate.
