1. Introduction to the School
- Shanghai University is a comprehensive university under the jurisdiction of Shanghai and a key construction project of the national "211 Project". It is a university jointly established by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the Ministry of Education of China. It is one of the first batch of high-level local university construction pilot projects in Shanghai and a university with first-class disciplines constructed by the Ministry of Education.
- In 2024, ARWU ranked 201-300 globally and 327th in the US News World University Rankings.
- Shanghai University has a complete range of disciplines, with 32 colleges covering philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, medicine, management, art, and interdisciplinary disciplines. A total of 14 of its disciplines are among the top 1% in the world.
- The school currently has more than 40,000 students, including 3,144 international students from over 150 countries around the world.

II. Funding Projects, Majors, and Application Period
- Eligibility : Outstanding international students applying for undergraduate, master's or doctoral studies.
- Master or PhD students: You can apply for full scholarship or partial scholarship;
- Undergraduate: Partial scholarship available.

IV. Scholarship Application Requirements
1. Basic Requirements
- Non-Chinese nationals, holding a valid passport, in good physical and mental health
- If you are originally a Chinese citizen, you must have held foreign citizenship for at least 4 years and have lived abroad for at least 2 years in the last 4 years

V. Application Materials (Electronic Version)
- Passport information page (valid until March 1, 2026)
- Passport photo (blue background, 295×413, <100K)
- Short video (self-introduction + study plan, less than 50M)
- Education/degree certificate, transcript (fresh graduates need pre-graduation certificate)
- HSK/IELTS/TOEFL and other language scores
- 2 letters of recommendation (Master's and Doctoral)
- Selection and approval of dedicated tutors (except for some colleges)
- Personal statement (≥800 words)
- Proof of financial guarantee
- No criminal record or letter of commitment
- Academic achievements/artistic works (if any)
Documents not in Chinese or English must be accompanied by translated copies. Materials uploaded to the system must be authentic and clear, and original documents must be verified for admission.
VI. Application Methods
- Log in to Contact E-Square to get website and fill in the information
- Complete admission eligibility test and security background check
- Wait for the video/phone interview (10–15 minutes)
- Admission results are expected to be announced in mid-to-late June 2025
7. Notes
- Applications through intermediaries are not allowed
- All original documents must be submitted for admission
- Those who fail the annual review will be disqualified
- In principle, you cannot change your major or length of study.
