The Chinese Government Scholarship (Category B) is a full scholarship program for international students established by the Ministry of Education of China. Under the commission of the Ministry of Education of China, Shandong University recruits outstanding international students from all over the world to pursue undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees.
I. Applicant Categories
Undergraduate (Chinese-taught programs only)
Postgraduate (Chinese or English-taught)

II. Scholarship Details
1. Duration:
In principle, it is the same as the study period specified in the admission notice.
2. Coverage:
(i) Tuition;
(ii) Free accommodation or housing allowance;
(iii) Living allowance;
(iv) Comprehensive medical insurance.
III. Qualifications
1. Applicants must be physically and mentally healthy and non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport;
2. Educational and Age Requirements:
(1) Applicants who come to China to study for a bachelor's degree must have a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent academic performance, and are generally under 25 years old.
(2) Applicants who come to China to study for a master's degree must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent, excellent academic performance, and are generally under 35 years old.
(3) Applicants who come to China to study for a doctorate must have a master's degree or equivalent, excellent academic performance, and generally be under 40 years old.
3. Language requirements:
(i)
Applicants for a bachelor's degree in Chinese-taught programs must pass the HSK Level 4 test (210 points or more);
applicants for a master's degree must pass the HSK Level 5 test (180 points or more);
applicants for a doctoral degree must pass the HSK Level 6 test (180 points or more).
Applicants whose highest academic degree was taught in Chinese are exempt from submitting an HSK certificate, but must provide a certificate of the language of instruction.
(ii) Applicants whose native language is English for English-taught programs
do not need to provide proof of English proficiency. Applicants whose native language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency, with an IELTS score of 6.0 or above, a TOEFL score of 80 or above (DI code: C296), a TOEFL iBT score of 80 or above, an Essentials test score of 8 or above, or equivalent proof of English proficiency. Applicants whose native language is not English but whose highest degree was taught in English do not need to provide IELTS/TOEFL certificates or other proof of English proficiency, but must submit proof of the language of instruction.
(3) Applicants for a master's degree in clinical medicine taught in English, in addition to the English proficiency requirements, must also pass the HSK Level 4 test (180 points or above). The certificate is generally valid for 2 years.
4. Applicants must also meet the other requirements specified in the "2024 Foreign Students (Undergraduate) Admissions Guide", "2024 Foreign Students (Master) Admissions Guide", and "2024 Foreign Students (PhD) Admissions Guide".

VI. Application Procedures
1. Apply online through the Chinese Government Scholarship Application System (Contact E-Square to get website), select the program type (Category B), and enter the institution number (10422). After completing the application, download the Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form.
2. Log in to the Shandong University International Student Online Application System (Contact E-Square to get website), fill in your personal information, upload the required documents, and complete the online application. No paper application materials need to be mailed.
Note: Applicants must submit their applications through both systems; otherwise, Shandong University will not accept their applications.
3. Pay the application fee of RMB 400. (Applications will be invalid if the application fee is not paid. Once paid, the application fee is non-refundable.)
VII. Application Instructions
1. All uploaded documents must be in Chinese or English. Documents in other languages must be submitted with both the original and a certified English or Chinese translation. Please use a scanner to scan all documents in color. Photos or photocopies of documents taken with cell phones or cameras will not be accepted. Handwritten documents will not be accepted, except for the "Foreigner Physical Examination Record" and personal signature.
2. Shandong University reserves the right to require applicants to provide original paper copies, notarized copies, or certification documents issued by a designated certification agency for further verification.
3. Due to differences in the education system between some countries and China, the academic requirements for applicants may vary. For more information on required qualifications and degrees, please refer to the attachment .
4. Applicants must ensure the authenticity and accuracy of the information and materials provided. If any information is found to be false by the admissions unit or certification department, the applicant's application, admission, or enrollment will be revoked.
5. Recipients of the Chinese Government Scholarship may not concurrently receive other scholarships funded by the Chinese government or the enrolling institution. Upon discovery, the applicant's Chinese Government Scholarship eligibility will be revoked and any scholarship awarded will be refunded. Those who intentionally conceal their funding information will have their scholarship eligibility revoked and will be prohibited from applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship for three years.
8. Review and Recommendation
Shandong University is responsible for reviewing application materials and approving the list of recommended scholarship candidates. The China Scholarship Council will determine the recommended candidates based on the expert review results.
