Funding criteria

Doctoral students: RMB 25,000 per person per academic year
Master's degree students: RMB 20,000 per person per academic year
Undergraduate students: 15,000 yuan/person/academic year
Chinese language students: 10,000 yuan/person/academic year

Note: The Xi’an Belt and Road International Student Scholarship is funded for 10 months and only covers the first year of study.

Funding recipients

1. New students admitted in the fall semester of this year
2. Have the nationality of a Belt and Road country, hold a valid foreign ordinary passport, and be in good health
3. Applicants must be of good character, law-abiding, diligent and studious, and have not violated Chinese laws, regulations, or school rules.
4. Applicants for undergraduate scholarships must be under 30 years old, applicants for master's scholarships must be under 35 years old, and applicants for doctoral scholarships must be under 40 years old. Applicants for Chinese language students may be under 45 years old (age as of September 1, 2024).
5. Not receiving any other funding scholarships

Application Process

Log in to Northwestern University's online registration system at: Contact E-Square to get website
Follow the system prompts, submit the materials required by the corresponding program and pay the registration fee. Pay attention to your email in time and wait for admission information.

Applicants for the Xi'an Belt and Road International Student Scholarship must upload and submit the "Xi'an Belt and Road International Student Scholarship Application Form" on the system. ( Contact E-Square to get scholarships form)

The university will conduct a preliminary eligibility review of applicants for the Xi'an Belt and Road International Student Scholarship. Applicants who fail to submit the required materials will be deemed to have waived their application.

Whether or not a student receives the scholarship will be determined by the Xi'an Education Bureau after a unified review.
