The admission targets
are non-Chinese nationals who
are friendly to China, have no criminal record, abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the school,
are physically and mentally healthy, have excellent academic performance
, and are interested in engaging in Chinese education, teaching and related work
. The age range is 16-35 years old (all calculated as of September 1, 2025). The age limit for in-service Chinese teachers is relaxed to 45 years old, and undergraduate scholarship applicants are generally not older than 25 years old.
Application
period: Starting from February 20, 2025, applicants can log in to the website of the China-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center to apply for the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship. The online application deadline for application materials (based on Beijing time) is:
April 15, 2025
(for admission in July 2025) May 15, 2025 (for admission in September 2025)
September 15, 2025 (for admission in December 2025)
October 31, 2025 (March 2026 admission)
Application Requirements
Basic Requirements:
Non-Chinese nationals
must be friendly to China, have no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the school's rules and regulations;
be physically and mentally healthy, with excellent academic performance.
Educational and Age Requirements:
Applicants must be between 16 and 35 years old (calculated as of September 1, 2025). For in-service Chinese teachers, the age limit is relaxed to 45 years old.
Undergraduate scholarship applicants are generally no older than 25 years old.
Language Requirements:
Master's students in International Chinese Education must have an HSK (Level 5) score of 210
and an HSKK (Intermediate) score of 60. Undergraduate students in International Chinese Education
must have an HSK (Level 4) score of 210 and an HSKK (Intermediate) score of 60. Postgraduate students must have an HSK (Level 3) score of 180 to 210, and must have a HSKK score .
Funding Programs and Contents
: Funding Period for the Master's Program in International Chinese Education
: 2 years, Admission Date: September 2025. Application Requirements: Bachelor's degree, Chinese proficiency of 210 on HSK Level 5 and 60 on HSKK Intermediate. Priority will be given to applicants who provide work agreements or relevant proof.
Undergraduate students in International Chinese Education
Funding period: 4 years, enrollment date: September 2025. Application requirements: high school diploma, Chinese proficiency of 210 points on HSK Level 4, 60 points on HSKK Intermediate.
One-year trainee
funding period: 11 months, enrollment date: September 2025. Application requirements: Chinese proficiency of 210 points on HSK Level 3, with HSKK scores.
One-semester trainee
funding period: 5 months, enrollment date: September 2025 or March 2026. Application requirements: Chinese proficiency of 180 points on HSK Level 3, with HSKK scores.
Four-week trainee
funding period: 4 weeks, enrollment date: July or December 2025. Application requirements: Chinese proficiency with HSK scores. Applicants are eligible for group enrollment by the recommending institution. Study plans must be confirmed with the school in advance.
Scholarship Online Program

One-semester Chinese Language Training Online Program: Enrollment in 202

Application Process:
Applicants should log in to the website of the China-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center to submit a scholarship application and select Huazhong University of Science and Technology as the receiving institution.
After completing the online application, they must log in to the Huazhong University of Science and Technology International Student Online Application System (Contact E-Square to get scholarships information) to register online and upload the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship Application Form.

: Scanned copy of passport photo page,
HSK and HSKK score report (valid for two years),
letter of recommendation from the person in charge of the recommending institution,
highest academic qualification and academic transcript,
physical examination form for foreigners,
certificate of no criminal record,
in-service Chinese teachers provide proof of employment and letter of recommendation.
