These programs are open to undergraduates, postgraduate students, doctoral students, general scholars, and senior scholars .
Applicants submit applications to the relevant dispatching department in their country.

The language of instruction for undergraduate students studying in China on a Chinese Government Scholarship is Chinese . Graduate and continuing education students can apply for courses taught in either Chinese or English. The scholarship funding period is the study period determined at the time of admission, including the period of professional study and Chinese language tutoring (preparatory course). In principle, it will not be extended.

1. Non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy;
2. Educational background and age requirements:
● Applicants for a bachelor's degree must have the equivalent of a high school graduate, excellent academic performance, and be under 25 years old;
● Applicants for a master's degree must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent, have excellent academic performance, and be under 35 years old;
Applicants for a doctoral degree must hold a master's degree or equivalent, have excellent academic performance, and be under 40 years old.
● General scholars must have a high school diploma or above upon admission and should generally be under 45 years old;
● Senior scholars should possess a master's degree or above or the title of associate professor or above upon admission, and should generally be under 50 years old.
3. Language requirements
● Applicants for bachelor's degree programs, general scholars (excluding Chinese language majors), and advanced scholars with Chinese as the medium of instruction must, in principle, have a Chinese proficiency of at least HSK Level 3. Applicants for master's and doctoral programs must, in principle, have a Chinese proficiency of at least HSK Level 4.
● Applicants applying for a major taught in English must meet the English language proficiency requirements of the institution they are applying to. For Wuhan University’s language requirements, please refer to Article 6, Section 5 of the Application Materials .
V. Application Process
1. Applicants should search for information on Chinese universities and related programs through the " Study in China " website or other channels to determine the program, institution, and program to apply for;
2. Applicants should contact Wuhan University to obtain a pre-admission letter. Please refer to the attached application form for application instructions.
3. Applicants should contact the relevant application acceptance agency to obtain recommendation qualifications and consult the application acceptance agency for the operating instructions of the " Chinese Government Scholarship Study Abroad Management Information System " and the " Acceptance Agency Number " ;
4. Applicants should log in to the " Chinese Government Scholarship Study Abroad Management Information System " ( http://www.campuschina.org ) and click on the " Online Registration Student Portal " icon to enter. Fill out the "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form" online and submit the required application materials. After submission, the "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form" can be printed.
5. The application acceptance institution submits the list of recommended candidates and application materials to the China Scholarship Council;
6. The China Scholarship Council organizes relevant institutions and experts to review the qualifications and academic performance of the recommended candidates and determine the candidates for admission;
7. The China Scholarship Council will notify the application acceptance institution of the admission result, and the application acceptance institution will notify the applicant.
VI. Application Materials
1. Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form (filled online in Chinese or English) (if applicable);
2. Passport front page. Applicants must submit a clear scan of the front page of a Japanese ordinary passport with a validity period later than March 1 , 2026. If the validity period of the current passport does not meet the requirements, please renew your passport in time. Applicants who are unable to obtain a passport before submitting their application due to objective reasons may submit a valid ID or certification document containing their " English name, gender, nationality, date of birth " and other information with the approval of the acceptance agency;
3. Notarized highest academic qualification. If the applicant is currently a student, they must also submit a certificate of expected graduation from their current school and a copy of their academic performance. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by a notarized Chinese or English translation.
4. Academic transcripts. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized Chinese or English translations;
5. Proof of language proficiency
● Applicants applying for a major with Chinese as the medium of instruction must provide a valid HSK score report that meets the corresponding Chinese proficiency requirements ;
Bachelor's degree students, general scholars (except for Chinese language majors), and advanced scholars should, in principle, have a Chinese proficiency of at least HSK Level 3. Applicants who are unable to provide proof of a standardized English test or whose previous degree was taught in English must provide relevant proof and take an English written exam or interview. Applicants whose native language is English are exempt from providing proof of English proficiency.
Applicants for a master's degree in clinical medicine with English as the language of instruction must provide proof of English proficiency and a Chinese Proficiency Test ( HSK ) certificate of Level 4 or above. Applicants with an HSK level 3 or higher may apply for Chinese language tutoring in the first year and may only begin their studies after meeting the requirements.
6. Admission Materials. Applicants for master's and doctoral degrees, as well as those applying to study in China as general or advanced scholars, should provide admission materials issued by the institution they are applying to. These materials may include an admission letter, a pre-admission letter, or a supervisor invitation letter. (Admission materials will be considered as one of the priority documents for Chinese Government Scholarship admission.) If you have received a pre-admission letter from Wuhan University, please include it with your application materials.
7. Study or research plan in China (no less than 200 words for undergraduates, no less than 500 words for continuing education students , and no less than 1,000 words for postgraduates), written in Chinese or English;
8. Recommendation letters. Applicants for master's and doctoral programs and applicants for advanced studies in China must submit two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors, written in Chinese or English.
9. Personal works. Applicants for art, design, and other majors should provide personal works (such as videos, paintings, etc.);
10. Applicants under the age of 18 must submit relevant legal documents of their legal guardian in China;
11. Applicants planning to study in China for more than six months must submit a copy of the "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" (the original copy must be kept by the applicant. This form is printed by the Chinese health and quarantine authorities and can be downloaded from https://sie.whu.edu.cn/info/1591/18951.htm . It must be completed in either English or Chinese ). Applicants must strictly follow the requirements of the "Foreigner Physical Examination Form." A "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" that is missing any items, does not have a photograph or a stamp on the photograph, or is not signed and stamped by the physician and hospital will be invalid. The examination results are valid for six months.
12. Criminal Record Certificate (written in Chinese or English). Applicants must submit a valid criminal record certificate issued by the local public security bureau, usually issued within six months of the date of application.
