Courses (overview)

• The New Energy Science and Engineering (Chinese-taught) undergraduate programme (four years) is delivered in Chinese and covers advanced mathematics, linear algebra, probability and statistics, university physics, engineering drawing, theoretical mechanics, mechanics of materials, fundamentals of electrical engineering and electronics, circuit analysis, analogue electronics, digital electronics, engineering thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, introduction to new energy science, solar photovoltaic power generation technology, wind power generation technology, introduction to energy storage technology, power electronics technology, new energy grid integration technology, energy economics and policy, new energy system design and integration, integrated laboratory for new energy science and engineering, and course design with integrated practice and capstone project, building basic methods for new energy power generation and grid integration, awareness of photovoltaic and wind power system design, capability in power electronics and energy system applications, and new energy project analysis and engineering practice through coursework and projects (aligned with “Core subjects” and the application process below; modules follow programme notices).

Career pathways (overview)

• Graduates may pursue roles as assistants at photovoltaic and wind power development and O&M enterprises, assistants at power grid and new energy power generation enterprises, assistants at power electronics and new energy equipment enterprises, and assistants at testing and certification and consulting organisations, including PV plant O&M assistance, wind farm operations assistance, grid integration and dispatch data collation assistance, and new energy project documentation assistance, subject to employers’ requirements and recruitment policies.
• They may also pursue further postgraduate study in new energy science and engineering, electrical engineering, power engineering and engineering thermophysics, energy storage science and engineering, and related interdisciplinary MA/PhD programmes, subject to admissions.
