Courses (overview)

• The Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection (Chinese-taught) undergraduate programme (4 years) is delivered in Chinese and covers introduction to intangible cultural heritage, folklore fundamentals, traditional crafts and arts and crafts, ethnic music and dance, traditional opera and folk arts, field survey methods for intangible heritage projects, intangible heritage audiovisual documentation and oral history, digital preservation technology for intangible heritage, cultural heritage policy and law, cultural resource management, community participation and intangible heritage transmission, and graduation thesis and practice projects, building foundations in intangible cultural heritage protection fundamentals, field survey and audiovisual documentation capabilities, and digital preservation and cultural resource management applications through coursework and projects (aligned with “Core subjects” and the application process below; modules follow programme notices).

Career pathways (overview)

• Graduates may pursue roles in cultural centres and intangible heritage protection agencies, museums and cultural heritage institutions, cultural tourism and creative enterprises, and community cultural services and transmission project teams, including intangible heritage project survey assistant, audiovisual documentation and oral history support, digital preservation technology support, and cultural resource management and community transmission support, subject to employers’ requirements and recruitment policies.
• They may also pursue further postgraduate study in intangible cultural heritage protection, folklore, cultural heritage studies, arts theory, cultural resource management, and related MA/PhD programmes, subject to admissions.
