University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) is wholly owned by Yayasan Sarawak and is the first state-owned university in Sarawak, with its main campus in Sibu. It is known for engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, as well as technology and business programmes closely aligned with the talent needs of the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), with a strong focus on technical and applied graduates. The campus holds Malaysia’s highest Green Building Index (GBI) Platinum rating — the first university in the country to achieve this honour — uses roughly half the energy of a typical building, and has been named among Malaysia’s most beautiful campuses by Tatler Malaysia. Programmes are recognised by MOHE and MQA, with degree-transfer pathways to partners such as Murdoch University, the University of Essex, the University of Birmingham and the University of Canterbury.

Surroundings

Next to the Unicity commercial area with hostels, a hotel, supermarket and dining. Close to Sibu town, with a more affordable cost of living than major peninsula cities.

Transport

About 20–30 minutes from Sibu Airport (SBW) (~23 km, depending on traffic). There is no direct public bus to campus; on arrival take Grab, a fixed-fare airport taxi, or a pre-arranged transfer to the main campus near Unicity.
