Shanghai University

Shanghai University is a comprehensive university under the administration of Shanghai Municipality and a key construction university of the national "211 Project". It is a co-construction university of the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and a co-construction university of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and Shanghai Municipal People's Government. It is one of the first batch of high-level local universities in Shanghai and a first-class discipline construction university of the Ministry of Education. The university was established in 1994 through the merger of the former Shanghai University of Technology, Shanghai University of Science and Technology, the former Shanghai University, and Shanghai College of Science and Technology. The university now has three campuses: Baoshan, Yanchang, and Jiading, covering a total area of nearly 2 million square meters, with a building area of 1.4 million square meters. The university has 30 colleges, 1 department (preparatory), and 1 school-managed department, offering 91 undergraduate programs; 20 postdoctoral research stations, 28 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 45 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, 1 second-level discipline authorized to confer master's degrees (not covered by first-level disciplines), and 22 categories of master's professional degrees. The university has 3,471 full-time teachers, including 722 professors and 1,105 associate professors, with 2,562 teachers holding doctoral degrees. The university currently has 19,921 full-time undergraduate students, 18,048 graduate students, and 34,250 students in degree education programs. The university adheres to an open approach to education and has signed inter-university cooperation agreements with 221 universities or institutions in 60 countries and regions, with 4,538 international students currently enrolled.Show More
