Jilin University

Jilin University (JLU) is a national key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education of China, located in Changchun, Jilin Province. The university was founded in 1946, was listed as a national key university in 1960, and became one of the first 22 universities to establish a graduate school in 1984. As a national "211 Project", "985 Project" and first batch of "Double First-Class" university construction institution, Jilin University holds an important position in China's higher education system. In 2000, the original Jilin University, Jilin University of Technology, Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences, Changchun University of Science and Technology, and Changchun Institute of Posts and Telecommunications merged to form the new Jilin University. In 2004, the original People's Liberation Army Quartermaster University was transferred and merged. These mergers have made Jilin University a university with comprehensive disciplines and strong comprehensive strength. The university has 52 teaching units, covering 13 disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, arts, and interdisciplinary studies. The university has 140 undergraduate majors, 48 first-level doctoral degree authorization points, 33 master's professional degree authorization points, 4 doctoral professional degree authorization points, and 44 postdoctoral research stations. In terms of discipline construction, Jilin University's archaeology, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, materials science and engineering and other disciplines have been selected as "Double First-Class" construction disciplines.
