East China Normal University (ECNU), located in Shanghai, is a comprehensive research university directly under the Ministry of Education of China. It is jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. The university is a key national university under the "Double First-Class" initiative, "985 Project", and "211 Project". ECNU was founded on October 16, 1951, based on Great China University (1924) and Guanghua University (1925), and incorporated departments from St. John's University, Fudan University, Tongji University, and Zhejiang University. The university has two main campuses: Putuo and Minhang, covering a total area of approximately 207 hectares. ECNU offers 85 undergraduate programs across 31 full-time schools and 4 academies, with 33 first-level doctoral degree programs and 37 first-level master's degree programs. Located in the central urban area of Shanghai, adjacent to Changfeng Park, the campus has a beautiful environment. There are multiple commercial centers, restaurants, and transportation hubs nearby, making life convenient. It is about 20 minutes' drive from the city center of Shanghai.

Getting Here

About 1 hour's drive from Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG), about 40 minutes from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA), and about 30 minutes from Shanghai Railway Station. You can take Metro Line 3, 4, or 13 to Jinshajiang Road Station, or take multiple bus routes directly to the campus.

Faculties

The Putuo Campus houses some of ECNU's schools, including the Faculty of Education, School of Psychology and Cognitive Science, School of Geographic Sciences, School of Ecological and Environmental Sciences, School of Statistics, and School of Software Engineering. The campus is one of the university's main teaching and research bases.

The campus features a modern library, experimental centers, student activity centers, and multiple research laboratories. This is the main teaching venue for the university's advantageous disciplines in teacher education, education science, and psychology.

The Minhang Campus houses most of ECNU's schools, including the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Natural Sciences, School of Information Science and Technology, School of Life Sciences, School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, School of Physics and Electronic Science, School of Mathematical Sciences, School of Foreign Languages, School of Sports and Health, School of Music, School of Fine Arts, School of Design, School of Communication, and School of International Chinese Studies. The campus is the university's main teaching and research base.

The Minhang Campus is ECNU's newly built main campus, put into use in 2006, covering an area of approximately 1,500 mu. Located in the beautiful Minhang District, the campus has a beautiful environment and advanced facilities. This is the main teaching venue for most of the university's undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as an important research base in multiple disciplines.
