Northeastern University (NEU), located in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of China. It is jointly supported by the Ministry of Education, Liaoning Province, and Shenyang City. The university is a "Double First-Class" construction university and one of the first "211 Project" and "985 Project" key construction universities. Founded in April 1923, the university was renamed Northeastern University in March 1993. The university has a branch campus in Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province. The university currently has 4,470 faculty and staff members, including 2,857 full-time teachers. There are 5 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and 4 overseas academicians. The university has more than 49,000 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students. The university's disciplines cover philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, management, and art.
