I. Eligibility
1. Basic Requirements

Be in good physical and mental health, friendly to China, with no criminal record;

Be a non-Chinese citizen holding a valid ordinary foreign passport;

Have completed high school education or above.
2. Language Proficiency Requirements

Programs taught in Chinese: HSK Level 5 (180 points or above);
If the highest degree was taught in Chinese, an HSK certificate is not required, but a proof of Chinese as the medium of instruction must be provided. -
Programs taught in English:
-
Native English speakers: exempt from submitting language certificates;

Non-native English speakers: required to submit IELTS 6.0+, TOEFL 80+ (including MyBest scores), TOEFL Essentials 8+ or equivalent proof;

If the highest degree was taught in English, a certificate of English as the medium of instruction can be submitted instead.

3. Nationality and Identity Requirements
Applicants must meet the requirements outlined in the Notice of the Ministry of Education on Regulating the Admission of International Students in Chinese Higher Education Institutions (Jiao Wai Han [2020] No. 12).
Nationality recognition is subject to the conclusion of the Chinese immigration authorities.

IV. Application Method
Log in to the Online Application System (contact E-Square advisors to obtain an application account) and submit all application materials online.
No need to mail hard copies.
V. Required Documents

Scanned copy of passport information page (valid until after March 1, 2026);

High school graduation certificate or pre-graduation certificate;

Complete high school transcripts;

Personal statement (written based on the template);

Language proficiency certificate (HSK, IELTS, TOEFL, or proof of instruction language);

Physical Examination Record for Foreigners (all required items completed, valid within 6 months);

Police clearance certificate (valid within 6 months);

Financial guarantee documents (deposit no less than 50,000 RMB);

Guardian documents for applicants under 18 years old;
-
Relevant documents for those with dual nationality or special identity (e.g., parents of Chinese nationality);
-
Any other supplementary documents required by Shandong University.
※ All documents must be in Chinese or English, or be accompanied by a certified translation.
Only scanned copies are accepted (no phone photos or photocopies).
VI. Examination & Admission
All applicants must take the Academic Proficiency Test for Undergraduate Freshmen, as well as document review and an interview.
Please check the application system and registered email regularly for updates.
VII. Registration
Admitted students must report to the university according to the admission notice schedule.
Original documents (graduation certificate, language certificate, physical exam report, etc.) will be verified upon arrival.
Failure to provide the required originals may result in disqualification.

X. Visa Application
After admission, use the electronic Admission Notice and JW201/JW202 Form to apply for an X-type visa.
For study periods over 6 months, apply for an X1 visa. A residence permit must be obtained within 30 days after entering China.
