Wuhan University International Student Admission Guide 2026 (Undergraduate) | Application fee Waiver

I. Eligibility

  1. Nationality Requirement
    Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, meet the requirements of the JWH [2020] No.12 Document, be in good physical and mental health, and obey Chinese laws and the regulations of Wuhan University.

  2. Age Requirement
    Applicants must be 18–30 years old as of Sep. 1, 2026. Applicants under 18 must provide a guardian’s guarantee letter.

  3. Language Requirements

  • Chinese-taught programs: HSK 4 with 180+;
    Exemption possible for native Chinese speakers or those taught in Chinese.

  • English-taught programs: TOEFL 80+, TOEFL Essential 8+, or IELTS 6.0+;
    Exemption possible for native English speakers or those whose previous degree was English-medium.

  • Chinese Language major: Eligible applicants may enter Year 2 or Year 3 after assessment.

  1. Identity Verification of Ethnic Chinese
    Applicants whose parents are Chinese citizens, or who previously held Chinese nationality, must meet:

  • Naturalization for at least 4 years (before Apr. 30, 2026);

  • At least 2 years of residence abroad in the last 4 years (9 months per year is counted as one year).
    Applicants born abroad must meet the same requirements and provide birth certificate and parents’ nationality proof.


II. Application Procedures

    Create an account at https://admission.whu.edu.cn/
    → Fill in the form → Upload required documents.

  2. Required Documents

  • Passport biographical page & visa page (if any)

  • High school diploma or proof of impending graduation

  • High school transcripts

  • HSK report (for Chinese-taught programs)

  • TOEFL/TOEFL Essential/IELTS (for English-taught programs)

  • Financial proof (USD 5,000 or above)

  • Academic performance records (for applicants with study experience in China)

  • Physical examination report (within 6 months)
    Note: Non-Chinese/English documents require notarized translations.

  1. Interview & Examination
    Qualified applicants will be notified via email. Outstanding applicants may be exempted from the interview.


III. Application, Admission & Registration Period

  1. Self-funded Application Period

  • Spring 2026: Oct. 20, 2025 – Dec. 30, 2025

  • Autumn 2026: Oct. 1, 2025 – Jun. 15, 2026

  • Spring 2027: Oct.–Dec. 2026

  1. Admission Period
    Results will be available in the online system.

  2. Registration Period
    Usually Aug.–Sep. every year.
    Applicants must bring: passport, Admission Notice copy, JW202/JW201 copy, and student visa.

IV. Visa Application

Admitted applicants must take their passport, Admission Notice, JW202/JW201 copy, Physical Examination Record, and medical reports to apply for an X1/X2 student visa at the Chinese Embassy/Consulate.


V. Accommodation

On-campus accommodation will be arranged for students registering on time.


VI. Study Duration & Degree Award

Undergraduate programs last 4–6 years. Most are Chinese-taught, some English-taught.
Students who complete coursework and pass the thesis defense will be granted a bachelor’s degree and graduation certificate.
