1. Application Eligibility
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education’s Foreign Language Letter [ 2020] No. 12 .
2. Applicants must be between 18 and 25 years old and have graduated from high school. Applicants who will be under 18 years old as of September 1, 2025, must submit an original notarized guardianship certificate issued by a Tianjin notary office. The guardian must be a permanent resident of Tianjin.
3. Language skills:
( 1) Applicants for Chinese-taught courses must meet the following HSK test scores:
International Education College undergraduate majors: New HSK Level 4 score of 180 or above;
Other undergraduate majors: New HSK Level 5 score of 180 or above.
Note : HSK stands for the Chinese Proficiency Test. For more information, please visit www.chinesetest.cn . Applicants whose native language is Chinese or whose high school education was conducted in Chinese may be exempted from submitting HSK scores upon approval by our school.
( 2) Applicants for English-taught courses must have an English proficiency level of IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 or above (applicants from English-speaking countries recognized by our school are exempted).
4. Applicants must be of good character, physically and mentally healthy, and willing to abide by Chinese laws and regulations as well as the rules and regulations of Tianjin University.

Note: Tuition and scholarship information is subject to the Tianjin University admission notice. Admitted students are subject to annual review. Those who fail the review will have their scholarship eligibility for the next year suspended or revoked.
IV. Application Methods
Applicants should log in to the Tianjin University International Student Management System (Direct Contact E-Square COounselor to get a account) within the timeframe specified by Tianjin University, register, complete the application form, and upload the required application materials (see below for a list of materials). Applicants should also complete the application form and upload it to the "Other" section of the Tianjin University online application system .

Note: The application system is open as usual during the winter vacation. Due to the limited number of admissions at Tianjin University, applicants are advised to submit their applications as early as possible.
Upload application materials list:
1. Original or notarized scanned copy of high school diploma (Fresh high school graduates will be required to submit an expected graduation certificate issued by their current school. Upon admission, they will be required to submit an original or notarized copy of their high school diploma) ;
2. Original or notarized scanned copies of all high school transcripts; or scanned copies of internationally recognized standardized test scores (such as SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB, etc.) ;
3. Scanned copy of the passport front page (for ordinary passports with an expiration date after March 1, 2026): Applicants who were originally Chinese citizens and subsequently acquired foreign nationality, or applicants holding foreign passports whose one or both parents are Chinese citizens, must also provide proof of naturalization, proof of renunciation of Chinese nationality, and scanned copies of visa records for entry and exit into China in the past four years;
4. Proof of Chinese or English proficiency (see the application requirements for specific requirements);
5. Resume of your studies and post-graduation experience since high school (click to download template) ;
6. Study plan ( 600 words or more, written in Chinese for Chinese-taught programs and in English for English-taught programs) ;
7. The "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" must be completed and must strictly follow the items listed in the form. Physical examination results after October 1, 2024 will be considered valid ;
8. Applicants currently studying in China must submit the visa page of their passport and a certificate of good academic performance issued by their current school . Applicants currently attending a university in China must also submit a certificate of withdrawal.
9. Criminal record certificate , which should be issued within 6 months of the date of application (fresh graduates may submit proof of good academic performance);
10. Deposit certificate issued by the bank or the employment income certificate of the financial guarantor ;
11. Applicants who are still under 18 years of age on September 1, 2025 must submit a notarized guardian certificate ;
12. Other attachments (such as award certificates, etc.).
Application Instructions:
1. All certificates and documents uploaded must be original or notarized documents in Chinese or English. If the documents are in other languages, both the original and the notarized English or Chinese translation must be uploaded.
2. Please scan the relevant documents in color with a scanner before uploading. Documents taken with mobile phones or cameras will not be accepted, and photocopies will not be accepted.
3. During the review of uploaded application materials, Tianjin University may require some applicants to provide original/notarized copies of their application materials or certification documents issued by a designated certification agency for further verification. Applicants must ensure that the information and application materials they provide are true and accurate; otherwise, their admission will be revoked.
V. Review and Admission
Tianjin University will select applicants based on their high school academic performance, language proficiency, and interview or written examination scores (interview or written examination dates will be announced separately). Applicants should check their application progress and status via email or log in to the Tianjin University online application system. Admitted students (excluding those pre-admitted on the Chinese Government Scholarship) must prepay a deposit of 7,000 RMB and an application fee of 420 RMB within the specified timeframe and submit a screenshot of the payment receipt to the Tianjin University online application system ( tju.at0086.cn/student ). Upon receipt of the payment receipt, Tianjin University will issue electronic copies of the "Admission Notice" and "Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China" to admitted applicants in July . If a student chooses not to enroll at the university for personal reasons, the deposit and application fee will not be refunded.
6. Visa Application and Enrollment
1. Admitted students should bring their ordinary passport, Admission Notice, Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China, Physical Examination Form for Foreigners, and all original physical examination reports to the Chinese embassy or consulate to apply for a visa to study in China (X1). They should then register at Tianjin University at the time specified in the admission notice with the above documents.
2. Tianjin University's fall registration period is typically in late August or early September. New students must bring their original degree certificates for university verification upon admission. They must also provide an original certified copy of their degree certificate issued by their graduating university or a certification agency. Those who do not meet the admission requirements will be disqualified.
VII. Fees (in RMB)
1. Application fee: 420 yuan (not required upon application);
2. Tuition fees are subject to the admission notice issued by Tianjin University.
3. Accidental injury and hospitalization medical insurance premium: 800 per academic year;
4. Accommodation Fee: Depending on the campus and room type, the fee ranges from RMB 15 to RMB 60 per person per day. For details, please refer to the Tianjin University Dormitory Bed Fees for International Students .
Note: All the above fees are non-refundable once paid.
